As a member of the Irish Military I was introduced to photography. Where I found myself as a Unit/Brigade photographer, during my military service I served in the Infantry, Ordnance Corp and Military Police, as well as multiple Brigade detachments, where I photographed and archived all aspects of military life, like all military photographers I had a varied life from promotional work to operational work, so when I was asked what style of photographer I am, this caused me a moment of discomfort, as I would classify myself as been an inventive, documentarian. I don’t follow the typical line within photographic arts, I’m more of a storyteller and an emotion invoker, I like to make my audience think and feel, that they are part of the work and not just a passive voyeur at another exhibition, after all the world is full of untold experiences, I want my work to be an experience that you can take home with you. |
